Chevrolet’s compact SUV, the Trax, has been revealed with a complete redesign for 2023. The 2024 model will fill the role for the current model year, as an official 2023 model will not be produced. An all-new exterior incorporates Chevrolet’s evolving design language, clearly apparent in the sleek headlights, larger front grille, and aggressive body lines. The interior is defined with sweeping lines and space-saving elements to emphasize the increased spaciousness and now houses an 8- or 11-inch infotainment touch screen (depending on the trim level). Overall body proportions have changed to provide the Trax with a confident stance and additional cargo room. Each trim level sports unique design cues to add variation to the lineup with exclusive wheels, grille designs, and interior appearance packages. Even with the improvements to design, technology, and safety, the Trax remains a bargain at a starting price of $21,495. The new Chevy Trax is now actively arriving at dealerships and is officially available for sale at Walser Polar Chevrolet in White Bear Lake, MN. The new Trax has an all-new appearance that leaves a slim trace of the previous generation’s DNA. Instead, it has taken large inspiration from its sibling SUVs like the Blazer and Trailblazer. The new silhouette introduces a much-needed confidence boost with athletic body lines and wider, longer body proportions. To achieve a sportier stance, the Trax is now 2 inches wider, 11 inches longer, and 4 inches lower. Sleek LED headlights are standard, and LED daytime running lamps are available to enhance visibility during both the day and night, while also enhancing the appearance. To finish it all off, 10 distinctive exterior color options are available; Blue Glow Metallic, Cacti Green, Cayenne Orange Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Foutain Blue, Harvest Bronze Metallic, Mosaic Black Metallic, Nitro Yellow Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, and Summit White.
The interior is packed with the latest Chevrolet technology. An all-new 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard on LS and 1RS trim levels, with an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen standard on LT, 2RS, and ACTIV. Creature comforts like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard with available wireless charging and Wi-Fi Hotspot. Eye-catching circular vents decorate the front cabin for an almost aeronautical-like presence. With the increase in overall body proportions, interior spaciousness has been improved tremendously with improvements to passenger legroom, shoulder room, hip room, and cargo space. Behind the rear seat, total cargo volume (cu. ft.) has increased by nearly 37% from the previous generation (nearly 6 additional cu. ft. of overall cargo space)! A low-profile instrument panel improves driver visibility and a sunroof is also available for those looking for a more top-down feel.
The 2024 Chevy Trax will house a smaller, more efficient engine that will come exclusively in FWD. This being the Ecotec 1.2L Turbo DOHC VVT Inline-3, with fuel being delivered via direct injection. The peppy 3-cylinder is mated to a Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission and puts down 137 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. EPA-Certified fuel efficiency is stated at 28 City/32 Highway (30 MPG combined), 4 additional MPG in the city relative to the 2022 model. With these enhancements, the new Chevy Trax is in contention for being one of the most fuel-efficient, and arguably best value compact SUVs of 2023.
With the Trax being a smaller SUV, safety is of the utmost importance. All 5 trim levels have Chevy’s standard suite of advanced safety features known as Chevy Safety Assist. This includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, and following distance indicator. Beyond Chevy Safety Assist, a rear vision camera is standard. For those interested in additional safety features, adaptive cruise control, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist are available. Whatever the situation, the Trax is designed to protect its occupants. Chevrolet has a track record of impressive ratings with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with a number of its new models receiving top-safety picks. We expect no different from the 2024 Trax.
The new Chevy Trax will come in 5 distinct trim levels; LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and ACTIV. All features included in the base trim, known as the LS, are standard on the remaining trims. Each step up adds additional features, or variations, of existing features. Click below to see trim-specific options and features.
